The telegram reads, in part:
“The history of Russian diplomacy includes many bright, memorable events and outstanding names. The nation is truly proud of the finest members of the foreign service, their professional achievements and contribution to ensuring national interests.
Based on the traditions of your predecessors, you are striving to effectively resolve the most important and difficult objectives, taking into account the modern realities. Because of your efforts, we have achieved great success in foreign policy. You were able to make progress on many key issues on the international agenda, including Syrian and Iranian issues. The Eurasian integration process is gaining momentum and our constructive cooperation with many foreign partners is being strengthened. Russia’s chairmanship of the G8 this year is aimed at joining forces in the fight against global threats and challenges.
And, of course, the creation of favourable conditions for ensuring the sustained growth of the national economy, as well as improving our people’s standards of living, remains a key challenge in Russian diplomacy. We must provide more vigorous support for Russian companies and corporations working in foreign markets, promoting the implementation of major investment projects, and ensuring the protection of the rights and interests of our citizens and compatriots abroad.”
Diplomats’ Day is a professional holiday observed in Russia on February 10.
