The Protocol amends procedures for appointing the deputy directors of the SCO Regional Antiterrorist Structure (RATS).
The Protocol also amends one of the articles in the Agreement concerning the adoption of Chinese as a second working language of the SCO RATS along with Russian.
The Protocol was signed on August 16, 2007 in Bishkek at a meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State (the SCO member states are Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan). The Agreement on the SCO RATS was signed on June 7, 2002 in St Petersburg.
