President Medvedev declared this at a meeting with Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov at Vystrel shooting range near Moscow.
The Commander-in-Chief stressed that rearmament should be carried out using high-tech military equipment and within the parameters laid out in the Presidential Address to the Federal Assembly. Dmitry Medvedev also said that it is nevertheless important to work on other types of weapons, including conventional small arms, another area to move forward.
Minister Serdyukov briefed the President on the implementation of his instructions, in particular with respect to increasing the number of aircraft and helicopters purchased and the construction of housing for military personnel.
