The President said, in particular, in his message:
“For a quarter of a century now this film festival has counted amongst the biggest and most important festivals in Russia’s cultural life. Kinotavr’s history is inextricably bound with the history of modern Russian cinema with its big projects by recognised masters of their craft, creative successes from young directors and actors, and the emergence of new names and talent in the cinematic firmament. It is not surprising that Kinotavr has lost none of its relevance or public interest over these years and continues to be a much-awaited event and annual cause for celebration for viewers of all ages.
I am sure that the film festival will continue to maintain its high quality standards, develop and expand its horizons and help to promote Russian cinema, language and culture around the world.”
The 25th Open Russian Film Festival Kinotavr is taking place in Sochi on June 1–8, 2014.
