The two presidents exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East, above all in Syria and Iraq, and discussed opportunities for developing multilateral and bilateral cooperation in order to fight more effectively the threats posed by the Islamic State terrorist group. They stressed the need to consolidate the efforts of all concerned countries, on the basis of international law, to fight with success the spread of terrorism and extremism.
Mr Putin and Mr Erdogan also discussed current bilateral cooperation matters and looked at possibilities for upcoming contacts, including at the highest level.
