The message reads, in part:
“Today, we honour those who have devoted their lives to this difficult but worthy and very essential work in our country’s railway sector: the train drivers and workers, engineers and builders, traffic control and repair staff – all of the competent and efficient professionals who know and love their work.
We have particular words of thanks for the sector’s veterans on this holiday occasion. It was thanks to their dedication, knowledge and experience that thousands of kilometres of track were laid, and railway stations and other infrastructure facilities were built. Of course, we will always remember the feats of the railway workers during the Great Patriotic War.
It is good to see that the current generation of railway workers is continuing its predecessors’ wonderful professional traditions and takes a responsible attitude towards their missions, chief of which are to carry out the sector’s thorough modernisation, increase the use of advanced and innovative technology, logistics and management systems, and raise the quality and safety of services provided.”
