Congratulations on India’s Independence Day

Vladimir Putin congratulated President of India Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on the country’s national holiday, Independence Day.

In his message, the President of Russia highly assessed India’s achievements in the socioeconomic, science and technology, and humanitarian spheres in the decades of its independent development, as well as the great authority of the nation on the international arena.

Vladimir Putin noted that Russian-Indian relations, based on a long-standing tradition of friendship and mutual respect, have reached the level of a privileged strategic partnership. “We attach great importance to the launch of the process for India’s membership in the SCO Background information Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) , which would open up new prospects for expanding the productive cooperation between our nations,” he stressed.

The Russian President expressed his confidence in the further development of the entire range of bilateral relations and partnership in resolving pressing regional and international issues in the interests of the peoples of the two countries and in line with efforts to ensure international stability and security.
