Vladimir Putin attended a gala concert to mark the start of the new school year, learned about the development concept for one of Sirius’ elements – the City of the Future educational and recreation centre located in the Olympic Park. The President also saw a project of the general education school for gifted children.
Later the President took part in a hockey match between Sirius students and the national all-star team at the Shaiba ice arena.
The President then toured the centre’s territory and learned about the creative projects by children taking part in educational exchanges.
The centre’s goals include early detection, development and further professional training of talented secondary school students who have shown an aptitude to natural sciences, arts, sports or technical creativity.
Some 600 children aged between 10 and 17 come to Sirius from various parts of Russia every month. They are being taught by leading teachers from schools specialising in sports, physics and mathematics, chemistry and biology, and by prominent Russia artists.
