The President said, in particular, in his message:
“This forum is a major international event that has brought to St Petersburg more than 700 women – members of parliament, politicians, public activists, scholars, and entrepreneurs – from more than 80 countries. This broad representation reflects the demand for a discussion forum of this kind and the real prospects for making it a regular event.
Your agenda addresses current issues related to women’s active participation in all areas of national and public life. The issues of gender equality, protecting women’s lawful rights and interests, and ensuring optimum conditions for women’s professional, creative and spiritual growth are all particularly important. Russia is consistent in giving these issues priority attention. Russia’s delegates will be happy to speak about their achievements and take the opportunity to study their foreign colleagues’ experience.
I am sure that your substantive discussions will produce interesting new ideas and initiatives, and this forum will prove its value as an effective platform for multilateral humanitarian cooperation.”
The Eurasian Women’s Forum is taking place in St Petersburg on September 24–25.
