Results in different economic sectors, such as industry, agriculture, and construction, were the subject of discussion. Mr Shantsev said the region was able to surpass its initial budget plans. The region saw growth of around 8 percent in 2015, and companies’ profits were up by 33 percent. The region’s demographic situation is improving too, and labour productivity growth is higher than the national average.
Seven big investment projects were carried out in the region in 2015. They included a second catalytic cracking production facility, and two new assembly lines at the Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ). Nine projects are planned for this year, in particular, the Nizhny Novgorod Machine-Building Plant, which will start operation at the end of February.
