Mr Koshin briefed the President of administrative reforms in the region, which have improved the governance process and reduced administrative costs.
In Mr Koshin’s view, the regional government’s main task is to reduce the local economy’s dependence on hydrocarbon resources, its main source of revenue. Hydrocarbon production has increased since 2013, and investment, at around 80 billion roubles, remains at the level it was in 2014. The agriculture sector has produced some positive results and the number of small farms has increased 5.5-fold.
Preliminary work continues on building the port of Indiga, and construction work has resumed on the Naryan-Mar-Usinsk road – a vital transport link for the region.
Other subjects of discussion included the demographic situation and a number of social issues, in particular, ensuring the region has a sufficient number of preschools.
