The President’s message reads, in part:
“Russia seeks continued development of its friendly and equal relations with Ecuador. I am sure that expanding our fruitful ties and strengthening our constructive cooperation in resolving current international and regional issues is entirely in keeping with our peoples’ interests. Your planned visit to the Russian Federation in October will unquestionably give new impetus to our bilateral dialogue.
I am sure that a speedy resumption of activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation will contribute to the intensification of our contacts at various levels. The priority areas in our bilateral cooperation are the energy sector, agriculture, fishing, medicine, science and technology, and personnel training.
Continued improvement of the legal foundation for our bilateral relations is an important tool in helping us to reach successfully our practical objectives. The signing of an intergovernmental agreement on military-technical cooperation in November 2008, for example, creates new opportunities for us to work together effectively in this promising field. Russia is ready for this kind of cooperation.
I am sure that through our joint efforts we will succeed in taking our bilateral relations to the level of long-term strategic partnership.”
