The message reads, in part:
“Passover is the most ancient and the most widely observed festival for the followers of Judaism. It derives from an important Biblical event, the liberation of the Jewish people from many centuries of slavery.
It is important that the Russian Jews honour traditions and customs that came to them from the dawn of time and pass them on from generation to generation. Today the life of the Jewish community is full of great and positive events. New religious, educational, learning and cultural centres are being established, and international contacts are expanding. Naturally, Jewish organisations are paying close attention to preserving peace and accord in our society, as well as promoting mutual understanding between people of different ethnicities and faiths.”
