The main focus at the meeting will be on continued efforts to strengthen Russia’s role on the international stage and promote national interests in a situation of intensifying global competition.
Priority tasks for Russian diplomacy are to develop mutually advantageous cooperation with foreign partners, make integration efforts in the Eurasian area more effective, defend the rights of compatriots living abroad, and prevent the spread of extremist ideology and international terrorism.
By tradition, such a meeting of Russia’s ambassadors and permanent envoys takes place once every two years. This will be the eighth meeting. The event will be attended by top officials from the Government and both houses of the Federal Assembly, the heads of ministries and agencies involved in international activity, and representatives of the academic, expert and business communities.
