Mr Turchak spoke in particular about two big projects carried out at the end of 2015 and start of 2016.
The first project is a large timber-processing cluster with an investment of close to 3 billion rubles. The project saw the establishment of a tree nursery with 2 million saplings and a large timber processing plant with a capacity of up to 65,000 cubic metres of timber a year. The plant’s final product, heat-treated board, is a high-value added timber product, with close to 90 percent of the plant’s production going to the export market.
The second project, carried out early this year, is the region’s first liquefied natural gas production plant with a capacity of 27 thousand tonnes of LNG a year, also for the export market.
The region’s agricultural sector is showing stable growth with an increase of 32 percent, primarily driven by the livestock sector. Construction is underway on a new pig-raising facility. With capacity of 2 million pigs, it will be one of Russia’s biggest.
The discussion also covered the region’s progress in implementing its social commitments and the President’s May 2012 executive orders.
