The message reads, in part:
“Russia’s Muslims, who honour their centuries-old religious, historical and cultural traditions, widely celebrate this holy festival in their communities and with their families and friends. It is a time for reviewing the spiritual heights they reached during the month of fasting and providing assistance to those who need it.
Today we see that the Islamic Ummah is prospering in Russia, building new mosques, establishing the Bulgar Islamic Academy, universities and madrasas, improving the system of Islamic education, organising Muslim pilgrimage to holy places and strengthening cooperation with the Islamic High Councils in the CIS and other countries.”
Vladimir Putin also praised the contribution made by the Muslim community to the development of ethnic and religious dialogue and its active cooperation with governmental and public organisations in charity and educational projects.
“This fruitful multifaceted activity is highly appreciated in society and promotes peace and accord in the country,” the President stressed.
