The message reads, in part:
“For centuries this holiday has been an important event in the life of the Muslim community, serving to unite people and bring them closer to undying Islamic values, and also to encourage a caring and respectful attitude to the centuries-old historical traditions, customs and covenants of their ancestors.
It is gratifying that Russia’s Muslims honour these spiritual traditions and mark Eid al-Adha. The Muslim community is actively involved in the country’s life and makes a substantial contribution to bringing up the younger generation and promoting inter-religious and inter-ethnic dialogue. Also, its activities are very important for maintaining peace and civil accord in society.”
