On December 15, the President is expected to meet with Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe in Nagato (Yamaguchi Prefecture) in various formats. On December 16, Tokyo will host talks featuring representatives of ministries and agencies, as well as business associations. The programme also includes a number of other events, including speeches by Vladimir Putin and Shinzo Abe at a plenary session of the Russian-Japanese business forum.
The upcoming meetings will be focused on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, including stepping up the political dialogue, implementing joint priority projects in trade and the economy, and deepening cultural and humanitarian ties. The leaders of the two countries are expected to exchange views on key issues on the international and regional agendas and outline further steps for Russia and Japan to coordinate their foreign policies.
