Before the showing began, the President congratulated everyone on Cosmonautics Day, noting that Russia can take deserved pride in its achievements in this area. Mr Leonov spoke about his spaceflight, which is the basis for the film’s screenplay.
The film The Space Walker depicts preparations for and the realisation of the first space walk in human history. The film, directed by Dmitry Kiselev, started showing on Russian screens last week.
The showing was also attended by Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky, the film’s producers Timur Bekmambetov and Yevgeny Mironov, who also played one of the main roles; Head of Roscosmos Igor Komarov; Head of the Cosmonauts’ Training Centre Yury Lonchakov; Natalya Korolyova, daughter of, founder of practical cosmonautics Sergei Korolyov, and Yelena Gagarina, daughter of the world’s first cosmonaut, Yury Gagarin.
