The message reads, in part:
“Firefighting in Russia dates back to the year 1649. It was established with the Tsar’s Order on Municipal Propriety. Centuries have passed but traditions of selfless dedication to the profession have been handed down from generation to generation.
Today you remain at the forefront of the struggle against disasters caused by fire. It is your precise and coordinated action, competence and courage that the health and welfare of people and the preservation of material objects depend on.
I would like to stress the importance of enhancing the introduction of advanced technologies and equipment, upgrading the system of emergency warnings, taking appropriate preventive measures and expanding our volunteer rescue service. It is also vital to devote special attention to public education and the promotion of the values of personal safety and nature protection and preservation.
I would like to express special gratitude to veteran workers. Your experience, knowledge and sense of responsibility in resolving your important task serve as a worthy example for today’s youth.”
