Mr Putin congratulated Mr Borissov on his election as Prime Minister and expressed hope that Russian-Bulgarian relations will develop in a constructive spirit.
The discussion covered promising areas of bilateral cooperation in political, trade, economic, energy, cultural and humanitarian fields.
The two leaders discussed, in particular, events related to the signing of the Russian-Bulgarian Agreement on Friendly Relations and Cooperation, which celebrates its 25th anniversary on August 4, 2017, and the 140th anniversary of Bulgaria’s liberation from the Ottoman yoke, which will be celebrated in 2018.
