The President said, in his message:
“Over many years now, tens of thousands of people from around Russia and abroad gather on this ancient Pskov soil during these June days. They come here out of genuine love for Alexander Pushkin’s works and for the amazing charm and beauty of these places that inspired him to create masterpieces of poetry and literature.
I am sure that this year’s celebrations, which mark the 200th anniversary of his first visit to Mikhailovskoye, will be memorable in their scale, rich and varied programme, and performances by well-known performers and musicians. Of course, wonderful events such as this also cultivate in young people respect for our country’s history and pride in our unique cultural and spiritual heritage.”
