The message reads, in part:
“This forum was established 16 years ago. Today, we can affirm that not only has this framework for promoting ties between the civil societies of Russia and Germany stood the test of time, but it has also proved to be instrumental and constructive in enhancing our bilateral partnership and in stepping up humanitarian ties. The scope of topics discussed within this framework has expanded considerably, and extensive, substantive efforts have been undertaken to implement joint projects in education and healthcare, research and culture, and youth exchanges. The Petersburg Dialogue has established itself as a proactive body with a rich agenda and a developed network of contacts.
I firmly believe that the Forum will help overcome issues that exist in Russian-German relations, and will contribute to strengthening trust and mutual understanding among people. The creation of this newspaper provides a wonderful opportunity for launching new initiatives and broad and constructive discussions for the benefit of our countries and peoples.”
