The law was passed by the State Duma on September 18, 2009, and approved by the Federation Council on September 21, 2009. The agreement was signed in Jakarta on September 6, 2007. It sets out provisions for reciprocal investment between the two countries, protection of investment, possibility of transferring abroad revenue and other payments in the form of investment, and stipulates the procedures for settling capital investment-related disputes.
The Agreement’s provisions apply to investment made on the parties’ territory since January 1, 1991, but its terms cannot be applied to capital investment-related disputes and claims arising before its entry into force.
