Dmitry Medvedev congratulated President of the People's Republic of China Hu Jintao on the 60th anniversary of the PRC founding and of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries

The congratulatory message reads, in part:

“It is symbolic that today we celebrate together with our Chinese friends the anniversary of the PRC founding and the anniversary of the establishment of our bilateral diplomatic relations. Those two events opened a new era in our common history and subsequently fundamentally reshaped the contemporary world.”

The Russian President outlined that “Over the course of years the people of China have achieved extraordinary results in socio-economic development of the country and in strengthening its international prestige. Nowadays, the People’s Republic of China is an influential world power and a major contributor to the global stability. Russia is always delighted to see the friendly nation of China successfully progressing with important reforms and economic modernization.”

Dmitry Medvedev highly valued the bilateral relations and noted that “The traditions of friendship and good neighbourliness between our two peoples have withstood the test of time, and today the relations between Russia and China have come to the level of a strategic partnership. We see our political, economic and humanitarian cooperation developing dynamically thus further strengthening the foundation for our friendly links and serving practical interests of our peoples.

The mutual trust we have facilitates our successful long-term cooperation in a variety of areas and the implementation of many projects of an unprecedented large scale such as the Year of Russian Language in China in 2009 and the Year of Chinese Language in Russia in 2010.

Our cooperation in international affairs has grown significantly and has become an important factor for global and regional security and a solid foundation for the contemporary multipolar world.”

In his message the Russian leader expressed his confidence in stability of the relations of friendship and good neighbourhood between Russia and China, and in their bright prospects.
