The message reads, in part:
“In the past few years, the number of man-made disasters has decreased and people’s safety has been ensured through the joint concerted efforts of territorial and functional units of the Single State Disaster Management System.
Today, our priorities include the quality modernisation of the firefighting and rescue services infrastructure and better use of aircraft in rescue operations. It is necessary to introduce efficient mechanisms to prevent emergencies and create high-mobility units of the Single State Disaster Management System. In this all-encompassing and crucial work, it is necessary to use the potential of public-private partnership in full. And, of course, it is crucial to expand international cooperation in preventing emergencies and relief efforts, involve volunteer organisations and hold awareness-raising campaigns.
I am confident that the proposals and recommendations made during the assembly will facilitate the implementation of these tasks, that they will be implemented and serve to strengthen security and ensure the successful development of our country and its regions.”
The Single State Disaster Management System consolidates efforts and funds of federal, regional and municipal agencies and organisations charged with civil defence and prevention of natural and man-made disasters in the Russian regions.
