The congratulatory message reads, in part:
“Your clear-cut victory in the election is an inarguable confirmation of your high standing within the international sports community and a commendable assessment of the results of your work as head of the IOC.
It must also be noted that recently, the IOC has made a lot of progress in resolving problems related to developing the international Olympic movement, upholding its ideals and values throughout the world. I believe that much of this is directly due to your efforts.
I would like to use this opportunity to once again thank you for supporting Russia’s active involvement in the international Olympic movement. As before, we are ready to continue engaging in fruitful cooperation in all of the IOC’s activities.
I have fond recollections of my meeting with you during my recent visit to Switzerland. I hope that our constructive interactions will continue and will be conducive to the successful preparation and organisation of the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Sochi.”
