The message reads, in part:
“Over the past years, your forum, which brings together the heads of major companies, government agencies, public organisations as well as leading experts from Russia and other countries, has become a respected venue for a professional discussion of current nuclear industry matters.
I would like to point out that in modern conditions, global economic development and the maintenance of a natural balance on the planet directly depend on access to stable and low-impact sources of energy. We see above all a growing demand for energy efficient and safe nuclear technologies. Russia has traditionally been a leading country in the nuclear industry, in the construction and maintenance of nuclear power plants as well as in related fundamental and applied research. We must strengthen this potential, including through the development of broad international cooperation.
I am confident that your forum, the main theme of which this year is Global Partnership – Joint Success, will facilitate the development of consolidated approaches to the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and the launch of promising joint projects in this important field.”
The 10th International Forum ATOMEXPO began on May 14 in Sochi. Over 3,000 participants from 70 countries are expected to visit it during the three-day programme.
