The President will outline the key objectives of Russian diplomacy. These include the further strengthening of the role of Russia on the international stage, protection of national interests, creation of favourable external conditions for the development of the country’s economy and the improvement of the quality of life of its citizens, as well as safeguarding the rights and freedoms of Russian citizens and compatriots abroad.
Particular attention is to be paid to issues related to maintaining global security and stability, and counteracting the spread of terrorism and extremism, and with the participation of Russia in dealing with regional conflicts and crises. The President will also touch upon the issue of improving the effectiveness of Eurasian integration processes and expanding mutually beneficial trade, economic and cultural relations with Russia’s leading partners.
The meetings of ambassadors and permanent representives are usually held once every two years. The upcoming meeting will be the ninth. Those invited include heads of the Russian Government, Federation Council chambers and Russian ministries and agencies taking part in international activity, as well as representatives of research and business communities.
