The President discussed with Mr Shaimiyev the social and economic situation in Tatarstan in connection with the financial and economic crisis.
Kazan’s preparations for hosting the World University Games in 2013 were also discussed at the meeting.
Mr Medvedev noted the importance of sports as a part of overall education and said that sports activities in schools and universities should get close attention.
