The President watched the competitions and took part in the awards ceremony. After 12 rounds the Russian national team defeated the world team 8–4. The head of state presented the award to Denis Goltsov.
The tournament was sponsored by the Moscow-based Sambo-70 Centre of Sports and Education as well as LEAGUE S-70 with the support of the Russian Ministry of Sports, the Krasnodar Territory Administration together with Sochi City Hall. Speech at the awards ceremony
President of Russia Vladimir Putin: First of all, I would like to thank all the athletes.
They have once again thrilled us so much with their high skills as well as their tremendous courage. Not only are they real athletes but they are also real men too, and this can be said about everyone standing to the right and to the left of me.
Of course, we always cheer on the Russian athletes. This is only natural. But how should those who don’t get any support from the spectators perform? And they are here with us. I would like to thank them very much indeed for coming here.
I would like to say a specially thank you to all the organisers of this tournament. This is the ninth tournament in a row. It has become truly famous, recognisable, and it is respected in the world of martial arts. People really enjoy taking part in it here.
Each tournament has a certain theme and aims to popularise our sport, our art and the history of our country. This wonderful event has become a tradition, and, of course, sports as well as martial arts lovers certainly look forward to it.
And, of course, I cannot help but thank our wonderful hockey players who have come here today to support the athletes.
Congratulations and I wish you every success and most of all I wish you good health.
