The message reads, in part:
“I am pleased that this outstanding and interesting project has come together, received wide support in Russia and abroad and become an international tradition. Wherever your competitions take place, either in the Baltic Sea, the Black Sea or here in the Pacific Ocean, they are always popular.
It is important that the regatta unites people of different ages who are sincerely devoted to this pursuit of nautical brotherhood. Naval academy cadets and other students, who are taking their first steps in ship management, have an excellent opportunity to gain professional skills from experienced sailors and to show their talents and the strong personalities they need at sea including courage, stamina and teamwork.
I am convinced that the regatta will be a success and will contribute to the development of humanitarian contact in the Asia-Pacific, and certainly will be a memorable event for the guests of the Eastern Economic Forum which is also being held in Vladivostok at this time.”
