Vladimir Putin sent a message of condolences to President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo in connection with numerous victims and large-scale destruction caused by a tsunami that struck the island of Sulawesi.
The President stressed that Russia shares the grief of the friendly Indonesian people and asked to pass on his words of sympathy and support to the victims’ families and friends, and wishes for a speedy recovery to everyone who was injured in the disaster.
A 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck the town of Palu on Indonesia's island of Sulawesi followed by a two-metre high tsunami. Recent reports indicate the earthquake and tsunami claimed over 380 lives.
