The message reads, in part:
“This holiday has deep historical roots; it directs believers to the high ideals of freedom, justice and the eternal spiritual and moral values.
The respect for the traditions, culture and beliefs of various peoples has always been the foundation of Russia’s sustainable development and our treasure. It is important that the centuries-long traditions of friendship, neighbourliness and joint constructive work are being preserved and are serving for the benefit of the state and society. I am pleased to note that the Jewish community of Russia lives a full, multi-faceted life, pays great attention to the upbringing of the young generation, takes an active part in charity projects and makes a great contribution to the strengthening of the interethnic and interconfessional dialogue.”
