The Russian President congratulated his Indian counterpart on what was the first flight by a woman head of state in a supersonic Su-30MKI fighter plane.
Mr Medvedev, who has flown in a Su-34 bomber and knows very well the physical load involved, expressed what he described as his sincere admiration for Ms Patil’s heroic feat.
The President said that the flight, which took place in an aircraft assembled in India under Russian licence, was a vivid symbol of the two countries’ growing friendly ties and convincingly demonstrated the broad range of opportunities for their long-term military technical cooperation.
The two presidents expressed their satisfaction with the steady development of the wide-ranging cooperation between Russia and India and passed on their best wishes to each other’s peoples.
