“Galina Volchek was a uniquely gifted person with a very generous heart, a real hard worker and creator. Millions of people sincerely loved her for her wonderful work in the cinema, her amazing charm and friendliness, and certainly also for her creative courage and dedication to upholding her ideals, for her boundless devotion to the high artistic principles of the legendary Sovremennik, the theatre to which she devoted her entire life.”
Galina Volchek died in Moscow at the age of 86. She was one of the founders of the famous Sovremennik Theatre and directed over 30 of the company’s productions. She also starred in more than 20 films.
