The message reads, in part:
“For all these years, the library has successfully implemented its high educational mission by promoting reading among the younger generation, helping them to obtain new knowledge and valuable information. Within its walls, children discover the names of Russian and foreign writers, become acquainted with classic and contemporary literature, and immerse themselves in the fascinating and thrilling world of books.
It is important that the staff at the Russian State Children’s Library take care of the young visitors and conduct educational and creative events that are aimed at awaking an interest in reading, at the same time making a significant contribution to the development of the library sector in Russia.”
The Russian State Children’s Library is the world’s largest children’s library. It is a cultural and educational centre for children and their parents, as well as a research centre in the pedagogics, psychology and sociology of children’s reading; it employs experts in children’s literature.
