Vladimir Putin and Sauli Niinistö exchanged warm New Year greetings.
They praised the development of Russia-Finland relations, which are marked by regular political dialogue, mutually beneficial cooperation in the trade, economic, environmental protection and cultural spheres, as well as active interdepartmental and interregional ties.
The two leaders also confirmed their readiness to continue cooperation on the international stage. Vladimir Putin informed Sauli Niinistö about the developments in the settlement of the intra-Ukrainian crisis, in particular the results of the Normandy Format summit that took place in Paris in early December. They also praised the “all-for-all” prisoner swap in Donetsk Region that took place yesterday.
