The President noted in his remarks at the forum that developed media with a strong technology base and professional staff are one of the attributes of a strong and independent country.
Mr Medvedev proposed synchronising the transition to digital television in the CIS countries, saying that a common digital space would help to preserve unity of the information space.
The President answered a number of questions from media representatives.
Taking part in the Forum of European and Asian Media are delegations from 14 countries in Europe and Asia and around 140 directors of media outlets in the CIS and Baltic countries.
