They did a great deal to develop museum life in Siberia and made a significant contribution to public education.
It is of great significance that the current staff cares about the traditions of their predecessors, keeps the professional benchmark high, invariably delights guests with fascinating exhibitions, and pursues exciting creative information projects.”
The city of Tobolsk was founded in 1587 as a centre for the exploration of Siberia. The Tobolsk State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve is one of Siberia’s oldest museums. Currently it has 55 venues while its collections comprise around 450,000 museum items.
