The message reads in part:
“For many years, you have been serving art with devotion, and bringing joy to theatre and cinema lovers with your insightful and interesting work as both actor and stage director. Of course, the Maly Theatre implements interesting and unusual artistic concepts mostly thanks to you and your selfless work. This also helps maintain a special creative and spiritual atmosphere for which this legendary stage is rightfully renowned.”
Yury Solomin has been working at the Maly Theatre for almost 64 years, including 32 years as its Artistic Director. For the first time in the history of the famous Theatre, it was the staff who selected him to this position.
As an actor, he has appeared in many diverse parts on stage, and he has starred in about 100 films. Yury Solomin is a People’s Artist of the USSR; he has received two State Prizes, holds all classes of the Order For Services to the Fatherland and is a Hero of Labour of the Russian Federation.
