Vladimir Putin expressed his deep condolences to the family and friends of film director, actor and National Artist of the RSFSR Vladimir Menshov who died on July 5 aged 81.
The message reads, in part:
“It was with great sorrow that I learned about the death of Vladimir Menshov, an outstanding film director, a wonderful actor and educator, a bright and surprisingly gifted person.
This is an irreplaceable loss for the country and for all of us. Vladimir Menshov was distinguished by his unlimited dedication to art and audiences, tireless work, and by his ability to captivate like-minded persons and students with his ideas and concepts. He was appreciated for his profound, sincere and diverse creative work, for his active civic position, for his attention to supporting talented young people and preserving national culture.”
Vladimir Menshov is a Soviet Russian actor, film director, screenwriter, producer, TV host and educator, winner of the USSR State Prize and the 1981 Academy Award for the Best Foreign Language Film.
