“A monument to Andrei Dementiev, a remarkable person, poet, journalist and public figure, will be unveiled in Tver, his birthplace, today, on the day of his birth.
Andrei Dementiev’s multifaceted creative work has gone down in Russian literature for all time and has become a part of our cultural wealth. His poems reflect an entire historical era. They sing of friendship, maternal love and goodness, the values that serve as our reliable moral support.
I would like to note that Andrei always remained loyal to Tver, cared about preserving its rich traditions, and helped talented young people get professional and reader recognition.
We will cherish our good memories of Andrei Dementiev, our prominent contemporary.”
Andrei Dementiev (1928–2018) was a Soviet and Russian poet, a winner of the USSR State Prize and a Merited Artist of the Russian Federation.
