The message reads, in part:
“The uniqueness of your meetings with a wide international representation lies in their interdisciplinary approach. Uniting on one platform oncologists, radiologists, anesthesiologists, chemotherapists, surgeons and healthcare workers, they have a great practical importance and contribute to the consolidation of efforts in solving truly global problems.
The spread of oncological diseases is among the most serious and primary challenges for the professional community, the healthcare system, for our countries and the world in general, and requires a detailed study of advanced methods, special attention to the training of specialists taking into account the latest achievements of the fundamental science and technological progress. And, of course, in the difficult situation with the spread of the coronavirus, it is necessary to ensure that the oncological aid system functions steadily and that there are efficient early diagnostics and treatment of dangerous health conditions.
I am sure that during this meeting you will develop specific proposals and initiatives, the implementation of which will help reach the goals set, and that this forum held to mark the 150th anniversary of Pyotr Gertsen, the founder of the Russian school of oncology, will promote a profound understanding and preservation of his scientific and creative legacy, and the development of his ideas, many of which remain topical even today.”
