During the meeting, Chairman of the United Russia Supreme Council and Speaker of the State Duma Boris Gryzlov put forward the candidacies of acting Governor of Krasnoyarsk Territory Edkham Akbulatov, General Director of Kalmar Company Lev Kuznetsov, and Deputy Minister of Finance Alexander Novak for the President’s examination.
The Krasnoyarsk Territory governor’s post became vacant after Dmitry Medvedev announced the creation of the North Caucasus Federal District on January 19, 2010 and appointed the region’s governor, Alexander Khloponin, to the post of deputy prime minister and presidential plenipotentiary envoy to the new federal district.
According to the law, the party holding the majority in the region’s legislative assembly puts forward candidates for the governor’s office to the President. The party’s list must include at least three names.
