The message reads, in part:
“This day is marked by those who work on passenger, merchant and icebreaker fleets, by port workers and ship maintenance technicians, and people in other specialised jobs – everyone who works in water transport and carries on the great traditions of many generations of predecessors. Sea and river fleets have played an enormous role in developing the domestic economy and social sphere, in strengthening interregional and international relations, and in providing passenger and cargo transport services.
Today, the industry is considered an important and integral part of the country's unified transport system. Russia is building ships, improving coastal infrastructure, and implementing strategic projects, including Arctic shelf exploration and developing the Northern Sea Route. And of course, you face the ambitious and time-sensitive tasks of establishing new logistics plans and partnerships, building up tourist routes and promising international trade corridors. I am confident that Russian sea and river transport workers will successfully meet these challenges.”
