The message reads, in part:
“Established way back in 1939, this holiday brought together a large number of people of different ages, professions, and passions around its goals; it promoted the values of physical fitness, a healthy and active lifestyle, the development of sports clubs and voluntary societies, groups and schools. And of course, holding large competitions and sports days, sports festivals and parades of athletes is rightfully associated with it.
It is gratifying that these wonderful traditions are being strengthened today and enriched with new ideas and initiatives. In cities and towns, sports infrastructure is being improved; cutting-edge stadiums, training and wellness centres are being built, school gyms and outdoor sport areas are being modernised, and the level of training of coaches is being raised.
I am convinced that this truly enormous, necessary work must be continued. It is important that everyone be able to find something to their liking and choose a sport that is right for them.”
