The message reads, in part:
“Please accept my greetings on the opening of the 10th anniversary edition of the Nevsky International Environmental Congress in St Petersburg, which has brought together representatives of scientific, expert and business circles, as well as state and public organisations from different countries.
Today, the effective management of natural resources is key to the sustainable development of states. It directly affects the conservation of ecosystem biodiversity, and most importantly, the health and quality of life of millions of people. Therefore, environmental protection, the rational use of natural resources, and environmental safety are among the significant national priorities in Russia.
To these ends, Russia is vigorously implementing the Ecology national project and related federal programmes; Russian regions are initiating more and more environmental projects, and the scope of their participants and volunteers is expanding. Such an integrated creative approach helps improve environmental culture in society, among young people. I would like to note that we are happy to share our positive experience with our foreign colleagues and to carefully study their achievements in this area.
I am sure that the 10th Nevsky International Environmental Congress is excellently organised and will help unite the efforts of government and civil society institutions, as well as everyone who cares about nature, to protect it and preserve its unique wealth.”
