The message reads, in part:
“Founded by Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko and Konstantin Stanislavsky, the Moscow Art Theatre largely determined the development of national and global theatrical art and cinematography and greatly influenced the evolution of public thought.
The great history of the Moscow Art Theatre is filled with numerous extraordinary and unforgettable events, high-profile premieres, a brilliant constellation of names of outstanding playwrights and writers, artists, stage directors and actors. Their creative work set extremely high professional standards and laid the foundation of constructive traditions, bold creative exploration and selfless service to the stage art that are passed from generation to generation. Years went by and eras changed, but the Moscow Art Theatre always remained part of the country’s intensive public and cultural life, instilled a subtle artistic taste in audiences and, owing to its special and inspiring atmosphere, invariably enjoyed the sincere love of the public.
I am confident that the staff of the Moscow Art Theatre will continue to carefully preserve the invaluable creative and intellectual legacy of their predecessors and increase the glory of the legendary theatre.”
