The Higher School of Music, founded in Yakutsk in 1992, is among top 500 best universities of Russia. It offers primary, secondary and higher professional education programmes in musicology, performing and musical theatre arts. Students improve their skills in several bands, as well as in student and children’s symphony, chamber, and wind orchestras.
Rector of the Higher School of Music Nadezhda Zaikova told Vladimir Putin about its activities and presented the construction plan for a new campus designed for 240 students, with a library, a concert hall, and residential cottages for the boarding school. It will also house a recording studio, music library rooms, a sports and children’s playground. On April 27, 2024, the ceremonial installation of the first pile of the second stage of the Higher School compound took place.
The President listened to a concert given by the school’s students and teachers, and then talked with them. The students asked the President what classical music he liked to listen to. He was invited to the opening of the new school building in 2026 and asked to support the inclusion of the Symphony of the Good international musical performance competition in the Ministry of Education’s list of Olympiads and creative competitions.

Before going to the Higher School of Music, Vladimir Putin visited the Tuymaada Stadium in Yakutsk, where the Children of Asia International Sports Games kick off next week. On his way from the stadium, the President stopped the motorcade to briefly talk with local residents.
